Firstly big thanks to everyone who participated in our first big TS meet and greet. It was short notice and I apologize for that but all the important platoons where well represented and there was some really good points made by all. Not often do you get to see so many leaders from respectable au/nz HC platoons all in the one place. Again testament to the small but engaged HC community we have in au/nz, and look forward to seeing you all again for the next one.
Big ticket items discussed in the meeting, that directly effect the ladder:
> As a result of coming together and discussing what could be done better, after considering several important issues, the community as a whole has decided to restart the current ladder to better reflect the format agreed to by all participating platoon leaders, allow new platoons to join, and allow platoons which have since disbanded etc to be removed from the ladder.
> Rules will be changed so that there will NOT be a cap on maximum players, per round, rather there will be a MINIMUM requirement of 5 players or more. So for example if platoon A and platoon B both have 10 players they would like to field and BOTH PLATOONS agree, then that round can go ahead as a 20 player scrim.
HOWEVER, If in situations where Team A only has 6 players for example, and Team B has 12, Team B MUST ONLY FIELD 6. - Both teams are obligated to only play as many as the smaller Platoon can provide. If a platoon fields less then 5 by the time the scrim goes live, the opposing platoon isn't obligated to play the round and can leave at that point with all 3 points, but may continue to play the round if if chooses and can play with the advantage. If said team does decide to continue to play however the points stand even if the smallest team had 2 players and still won. *NOTE The "traditional OHL Rounds have always been played with 8 players, as a result the official OHL Server only has a maximum of 18 slots, 16 for teams, 2 spectator slots for commentary/administration. If platoons end up agreeing to play more then 8v8 it's up to those Platoons to find a server that can host 18+ players.
> Third big change effecting the ladder; Each platoon will have 3 weeks to complete a minimum of 2 rounds, but may play as many rounds as they like whenever they like. So for example if 2 Platoons agree to play round 10 they may do so at anytime. So long as BOTH platoons agree. Remember platoons have 3 weeks to play a MINIMUM of 2 rounds, but can play as many as they like in a single week so long as they 1/ REPORT RESULTS, And preferably keep all dialogue in DIPLOMACY in the OHL Forums. 2/ ALL PLATOONS -MUST- FIND OUT WHAT MAP SHOULD BE PLAYED FOR THAT ROUND BEFORE PLAYING. (standard universal maps still apply for each round, ie, if round 10 is "Flood Zone" as set out in the forums ALL platoons MUST play Flood Zone in round 10 for all 3 modes of that round.)
> PROPOSITION* (Subject to feedback and tweaking) The entire ladder will now be split into 4 quarters instead of 2 halves. The winners of those quarters will play for the Oceanic HC Cup in what will probably be called the "Playoff's" - Need to continue this conversation in the next meeting, but no matter what we choose we can start the ladder back up again in days and make a final decision later .
> All platoon leaders have agreed to continue the conversation at a future meeting which will be held in CK - CouchKeg's TS server, the time of which will be determined at a later date once the ladder resumes again. In the meantime OHL admins will modify rules as agreed to, contact all participating platoons who couldnt make the meeting and recreate the first round on challonge.
Please stay tuned as I think all of us really want to get back to scrimming as soon as possible.
Again thanks to everyone who participated - Drift
