Sorry for the late News update guys we really would like to do these at very least once a week, there's a few things we're working on behind the scenes to ensure this is the best HC ladder in town, so unfortunately we just haven't had the time to do it all.
On the agenda today.
* Finalizing rounds with your opponent - A quick revisiting of the rules around organizing scrims with other platoons.
* New Platoons and how they can participate in this seasons ladder.
* Update on the official OHL eSports server - as well as updated guidelines for running your own server if you choose to do so.
OK So first on the list:
* Finalizing rounds with your opponent - A quick revisiting of the rules around organizing scrims with other platoons.
We've noticed that a couple of platoons are attempting to go back to the "bad old days" of trying to get platoons to join their Teamspeak channel and organize the scrims that way. This is entirely against the OHL rules guys for several reasons.
Firstly, there MUST be a record of the correspondence between the 2 parties in black and white so all can see exactly what has been agreed to. If a dispute comes up as a result of the match, there is no way for OHL admins to determine who is at fault as Teamspeak offers no way of looking at the conversation and subsequent agreement that took place. It really does become a matter of "he said, she said" So it really is in each platoons interest to ensure that the "Diplomacy" section is used as the PRIMARY means of communication between the two platoons.
Secondly, as stated in the rules, if neither team can agree on a set time to scrim, preferably on a weekend or Friday night, then an OHL admin will look a the conversation and see which Platoon has made themselves available the most, or has at least tried the hardest to meet the other platoon half way and points maybe awarded to the Platoon who has at least Tried the hardest to organize an agreeable time - IF a time simply can't be reached. (If in rare cicrumstances it is observed that neither Platoon has made a reasonable effort to organize a specific time then neither Platoon will receive any points)
So, for all Platoons involved please ensure you use the "Diplomacy" section to organize the timing of your scrims if you have ANY questions at all in regard to this please send me a PM.
ON THAT NOTE - THE LADDER IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR ALL PLATOONS STILL ON ROUND 2 TO CATCH UP, COULD ALL PLATOONS STILL IN ROUND 2 PLEASE HAVE THEIR SCRIM TIMES FINALIZED BY THE END OF THIS WEEK LATEST.
* New Platoons and how they can participate in this seasons ladder.
We are very happy to announce that we have at least 3 new Platoons who would like to participate in the current OHL ladder, as we are only into our 2nd round and 2 Platoons have dropped out due to internal issues, we are happy to be able to offer 2 of the 3 positions in the CURRENT, seasons ladder. We have explained to both that due to the fact that the round has already begun we are unable to replay the first round however there is no reason they can't jump in for the second round as there is still plenty of competition left. So for those 2 new platoons and you guys know who you are, an OHL rep will be joining your relative TS servers within the next 24 hours so we can bring you guys up to speed as quickly as possible. Time is of the essence as we well and truly should be on to our 3rd round by now. That said being the first ladder for BF4, we understand that there was always going to be some teething issues and we're working accordingly to keep the Ladder on track whilst also giving those Platoons who weren't privy to the ladder previously a shot. - That said we are bending the OHL rules just a little just this once to allow this to happen but in future once the Ladder is "Live" no new platoons maybe added moving forward.
For the rest of the Platoons we ask that you please ensure that your round 2 scrim is complete as we would like to start getting all the Platoon leaders into the habit of organizing your scrims during the week, then playing your scrims on the weekend - REMEMBER ALL RESULTS MUST BE POSTED IN THE SAME DIPLOMACY THREAD THAT YOU USED TO ORGANIZE THE SCRIM, FROM THERE WE WILL POST THOSE RESULTS ON CHALLONGE.COM
* Update on the official OHL eSports server - as well as updated guidelines for running your own server if you choose to do so.
Finally guys I'm happy to announce that after some technical difficulties the official OHL Scrim server is online and ready to be booked for you next scrim, this server is here so you guys don't have to go to the trouble of setting up your own. Simply let us know in "Diplomacy" if it is required, the time in which it is required and an OHL admin will do the rest, as well as spectate the round and change maps as required etc. With that in mind, there is only one server at this stage and we understand that it may not be available to everyone at the same time so we are happy for Platoons to run the scrims in their own servers, so long as the servers are being run according to OHL Scrim guidelines - As it stand there isnt too much on these forums in the way of guidelines for running an "OHL" server, but we are going to make sure that this is remedied in the very near future so for those running the server we ask that you please check the OHL "Rules info and FAQ" section at the top of the home page of these forums within the next couple of days as a full set of guidelines will be posted. Basically though, the server should be HC obviously, preferably with a password, and MUST NOT BE RANKED. - This is one thing we would really like to try and enforce moving forward as being a "Ranked" server will not allow for all weapons etc and therefore possibly create a tactical advantage for team that may have more "toys" then the other. But again please stay tuned as guidelines will soon be in place.
In the meantime please favorite the OHL server which can be found here: battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/servers/show/pc/f01c1acd-21bb-49b3-8cdc-a44067fe32b2/Oceanic-Hardcore-Cup-2014-ohl-net-au/
Thanks everyone for their ongoing participation and please stay tuned for more updates !!
